A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE TWO OF US

Ahmer and I first met briefly in 1998 during a week’s orientation in London, UK. We soon parted ways, one to study in Bristol, the other in Sussex, but found ourselves crossing paths again a year later back in San Diego. In the nine years (!) since Ahmer and I first met there have been many stories, adventures, and mishaps along the way—far too many to recount here. And so in this section about us I have opted to give an accelerated version, a glimpse of our life together from the window of a fast train.

Since meeting Ahmer, I have:

♠ Traveled to 14 countries
♠ Acquired 2 pets
♠ Lived in 5 apartments
♠ Attempted to speak 2 foreign languages, learned 0.5
♠ Celebrated 8 birthdays
♠ Eaten 2 chickens feet
♠ Climbed 3,000 meters in one day
♠ Broken down in every available mode of transportation: truck, boat, train, car, plane, & rickshaw
♠ Secured and then left 2 jobs (one twice!)
♠ Gained a limited appreciation for artistic films
♠ Discovered Indian snacks
♠ Developed a penchant for counting and logging

Since knowing me, Ahmer has:

♠ Traveled to 15 countries
♠ Owned his first pets
♠ Lived in 8 apartments
♠ Attempted snowboarding
♠ Snorkeled before learning to swim
♠ Expanded his wardrobe to include shoes that are not flip flops or sneakers
♠ Added the following fruits/vegetables to his diet: tomatoes, olives, lettuce, bell pepper, onion, spinach, cucumber, jicama & working on mushrooms now!
♠ With a fondness for hobbies, Ahmer has dabbled in playing the guitar, tennis, golf, hiking, biking, framing, photography, traveling, and music.
♠ Initiated 3 DIY home projects that are yet to be completed

So, for the two of us, October 20th is less about starting a life together than celebrating with family and friends the life we have together. As so many in our circle have a highly inconvenient habit of traveling far and wide we hope that this will be one of the rare opportunities to get everyone together in one place for a great time. We look forward to seeing you there!
