For those that are staying for more than the weekend there are plenty of sites and attractions to keep you busy. We hope to arrange a few activities so that everyone can meet and get to know one another before the big event. Stay tuned for updates!

♣ GRIFFITH PARK
Hiking trails, picnic tables, horseback riding and more. Trails will lead you to both Batman’s Cave as well as the Hollywood sign.
♣ FARMER'S MARKET
Visit LA's beloved Farmers Market with its bakeries, candy makers, delis, gourmet shops and informal picnic-style seating to eat what you buy. Shopping can be found next-door at the Grove shopping mall.
♣ SANTA MONICA PIER
Attractions of the pier include an arcade, roller coasters, carousel, restaurants, bars, movie- watching (on Tuesday nights) fishing and live music. If you don't like any of these, take a walk on the pier and listen to the waves crash. Also the city of Santa Monica is a great place to spend the day. Plenty of restaurants, shops and distractions can be found at the Third Street Promenade and surrounding streets.
♣ VENICE BEACH
Known for its beaches, canals and the boardwalk, Venice is a great place to people watch and spend a leisurely afternoon. Rent a bike or roller skates and cruise along the boardwalk.
♣ GETTY CENTER
Extensive collection of antiquities, paintings, drawings, sculpture, 19th- and 20th-century American and European photographs. Admission is free but parking is $8 and reservations are required.

♣ LOS ANGELES COUNTY MUSEUM OF ART (LACMA)
With more than 120,000 works in its permanent collection, LACMA is a wonderful visual arts museum. In addition to the permanent collection, LACMA will have special exhibits on Dalí & Film and Arts in Latin America (1492-1820) in the month of October. Admission is $9.

♣ WALT DISNEY CONCERT HALL
Unfortunately the Hollywood Bowl, one of the greatest outdoor music venues and picnic sites, will be closed in October. However, you can catch the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the newly designed Frank Gehry Walt Disney Concert Hall.

♣ LA CONSERVANCY WALKING TOURS
As many of you know, Laura is the Executive Director of City Guides, a program of the public library that leads free walking tours of San Francisco. Los Angeles also has a program of volunteer docents sharing the history, art and architecture of Los Angeles.
Tours are $10 and begin at 10 am from Pershing Square.

♣ GRIFFITH OBSERVATORY
The Griffith Park Observatory, located on the southern slope of Mount Hollywood, just above the Los Feliz neighborhood is a Los Angeles landmark. It is 1,134 feet above sea level and visible from many parts of Los Angeles. Visit the newly renovated Griffith Park Observatory, the backdrop of the climatic ending of Rebel without a Cause and a great place to view the stars above or the city lights below.
